Vintage Surfboard Valuations

With more than a half-century of experience in surfboard building, shaping, and restoration, and as the director of the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surfboard Auction (HIVSA) from 2001 to 2011, Randy Rarick is the foremost expert in vintage surfboard valuations.

Whether you’re planning to place your surf craft up auction, need an accounting for insurance purposes, or want to know out of pure curiosity, Randy will fill in the blanks regarding its worth.

Benefits of a Vintage Surfboard Valuation from an Expert

  • Appraised auction value establishes a reserve bid (if desired) and estimate for auctioneers to provide to bidders.

  • Appraisal establishes value for private sales.

  • Appraisal establishes provenance (verifies origin and history of the board).

  • Appraisal establishes tangible value for homeowners (and dedicated) insurance purposes.

  • Valuation offers personal satisfaction and instills a sense of pride of ownership (bragging rights!) when taking your craft to display at vintage surf memorabilia collectors events and the like.

How Vintage Surfboard Valuations Work with Randy Rarick

If you live on (or are visiting) the island of Oahu HI, and you have your board with you, you can schedule an appointment to bring the board to Randy Rarick’s studio at Sunset Beach on the North Shore. He will inspect the surfboard and provide a signed and printed testament to the origin and history of the board, along with the insurable/auction estimate in $USD.

If you are not able to bring the board to Randy in-person, you can submit photos/videos of the board via email for inspection. You will be emailed with the signed and printed testament to the origin and history of the board, along with the insurable/auction estimate.
