After ten years of successful auctions, this was the swan-song after a decade of events. Recording breaking sales of over a quarter million dollars and the attendance of a star-studded cast of surf luminaries, closed out the auction in style! This event was well attended, featured pre-auction party at Jimmy Buffett’s and had the likes of Bing Copeland, Rich Harbour, Rennie Yater, Greg Noll, Corky Carroll, Lance Carson, Ryan Dotson and Bob McTavish all in attendance and with great example of their surfboards on offer. This was to set the tone for all auctions to follow, with the baton being passed to the mainland and The Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center (SHACC) taking on the continuation of the event. Scott Bass conducted the first mainland event in 2013 and it has morphed into his “California Gold” auctions, which continue on to this day.
